Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued to post her music on the internet, including her independent single Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team in the following year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate with her on some references.
